County taxpayers just paid, and will for years
to come, $340,000 a year for a business that, in 2010,
brought in $235,000 in revenue. In 2009, it was
$228,000, 2008 it was $248,000. In 2010, $81,000 was paid out in salaries, 2009 it was $82,000, 2008 it was $75,000. The dirty little secret is the people using the service were paying for the service to an extent that a non-taxed profit was earned. Did you also know that a "run" or say a call for an ambulance is requested and the crew treats three persons that is considered three "runs"? So if the actual number of calls were 100 but at each call eight people were treated, that is considered 800 "runs." One Commissioner remarked that the other proposal presented by Connie DeCoe-Munier was based on volunteers and he did not want to do that. I guess it is easier just to tax than to exercise due diligence. I can't wait for the levy vote for the new building. O'bubbacare in Boundary County. |
