Bomb hoaxes a community problem |
March 4, 2014 |
By Mike Weland Publisher Did you know that each bomb threat at local public schools costs taxpayers about $60,000 each in response costs? These threats are and will continue to be taken very seriously by authorities because of the chance that one day it won't be a false alarm. This is not a school or a law enforcement problem, but an entire community's responsibility. The school district has been sued for its efforts to stop these threats, and been harangued for not being firm enough in finding those responsible. It's going to take an entire community, working together instead of tearing itself apart, to finally end this reign of terror turned almost farcical, now in its third year. Just for fun, I did a quick search of newsbf and compiled a partial list of the articles regarding school bomb hoaxes in Boundary County public schools. For your reading pleasure: |
