Sheriff's Race: "the whole package" |
February 27, 2016 |
February 23, 2016 To the Editor: I started working side by side with Dave Kramer in 1981 when I started as a patrol officer for the Bonners Ferry Police Department (BFPD). Our shifts were overlapping, so we spent a great deal of time together. I came to rely on his judgement and knowledge regularly. He always had a great deal of common sense to make the right decisions and the people skills to deliver them. Dave had the ability to inject compassion when situations become uncomfortable and challenging for the victims. While I worked for BFPD, Dave was always the go-to guy in the department when we had a complicated case that needed extra attention or expertise. Several years later, I left BFPD for the Idaho State Police. After a three year assignment in Coeur d’Alene, I returned to Bonners Ferry as the resident Trooper. Again, I worked very closely with Dave of the BFPD, who was then serving as Chief. I stayed in Bonners Ferry for 17 years, and later transferred to Pocatello and then to Boise. When Dave told me he was interested in running for Sheriff, I couldn’t be more excited, and I offered to assist him in his pursuit of the office. I have absolutely no hesitation in saying that I don’t think there is a better man for the job and there is no one out there with more integrity. He has dedicated his life to law enforcement, but that alone does not qualify him for Sheriff. Dave has the leadership qualities and experience to lead the Boundary County Sheriff’s office into the future like no one else. He has already proven his leadership skills with the BFPD. My career has taken me throughout the state of Idaho with many different assignments. I have rubbed shoulders with some of the country’s best cops. Dave has been and will always be at the top of the list among the best. I retired from ISP as a Captain in 2012 and currently am a Police Chief in Southwest Idaho. I am familiar with the difficulties that exist as a department head. I know what great leadership looks like. Dave Kramer is the whole package. Boundary County would be incredibly blessed to have Dave for Sheriff. I ask you to make the best decision you could make for Law Enforcement in your county. Support Dave Kramer in this upcoming election. Brian Zimmerman Chief, Middleton, Idaho Police Department |
