Look to the true meaning of the day |

On Tuesday we celebrate the birthday of America.
Like all births, America came into this world
with excitement, anticipation, anxiety and pain.
Two hundred and forty one years ago a group of
colonist citizens came together and released the
Declaration of Independence stating they wanted
to dissolve the political bands with their
oppressive mother country.
They pledged everything to each other and boldly
signed their names to this document proclaiming
independence and stating all men were created
equal and had the unalienable rights to life,
liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
These rights were given to all of us by God
alone-not government.
They knew they would be called traitors but
stated they had a firm reliance on the
protection of Divine Providence!
This document was the start of our Republic and
the America we know and love!
Many have sacrificed everything to bring America
into existence and many more have selflessly
offered the same to fight her enemies and keep
her that shining light on a hill.
As we face uncertainty from within and abroad,
we should remember it has always been the
American attitude of perseverance and ingenuity
that gets us through tough times. The only real
action (or lack of) that can destroy our
Republic is apathy. Let’s always remember the
importance of our declaration of independence
from a tyrannical government and remain
eternally vigilant to protect our independence
as a freedom loving people.
I challenge each of you to remain engaged,
always educated and ever vigilant to defeat
evil.
My prayer is that God heals our wounds of
division and weaves us together as a fabric of
one nation, under God, with the same vision,
same purpose and a unified front to fight and
stand for freedom.
Have a wonderful and safe Independence Day! |
