April 5, 2011 | ||
The program is aimed at arming parents and professionals with the knowledge and tools to eradicate the curse of child sexual abuse. Attendees will learn about proactive principas and an evidence-based approach to address the issues of child sexual abuse and why many conventional approaches to prevent such abuse simply don't work. Emerging issues with the scourge include cellphones, computers and social networking, which can be used to facilitate the "grooming" and eventual abuse of children, and Hsu will focus on prevention strategies that adapt to these new technologies. The event is being sponsored by Bonner County Prosecutor Louis Marshall, the Bonner County Child at Risk Team and the Ponderay events center, and the presentation is free and open to everyone interested, especially parents, coaches, educators, public employees, social service providers, medical professionals, law enforcement personnel, counselors, probation officers, advocates, churches ... anyone who wants to have the knowledge and tools to prevent the sexual abuse of our most precious asset, our children. The presentation will be at the Ponderay Events Center, 401 Bonner Mall Way, Suite E, in Ponderay. No reservations are required. |
