Pastor Bruce Barth and the congregation at
Trinity Lutheran Church in Bonners Ferry are
gearing up for the 100th anniversary of the
church's charter, which takes place Sunday,
September 11. Plans are underway to make the
weekend special in honor of the event.
At 6 p.m. Saturday, September 10, the church
will host one of its famous smorgasbords in
remembrance of all the years they fed upwards of
500 people on a Thursday evening in September,
though they aren't planning to begin that
tradition again. Instead, they'll be serving
about 150 members and invited guests, including
out of town members, former pastors and Bishop
Martin Wells.
Members may invite guests, but are asked to let
one of those on the committee know ahead of time
so the total count doesn't surpass 150 guests.
Committee members are Carole Dinning, Shirley
Marcy, Leslie Mason, Karen Standal, Vicki
Thompson and Mandy Young.
Special worship services will be held at 10 a.m.
Sunday, September 11. There will be no Sunday
School that day.
At 2 p.m., Trinity Lutheran Church will host an
open house and reception open to everyone in the
community, and all church members are asked to
attend to help host those who come to help
celebrate.
"We want to make a good start on the next 100
years," Pastor Baruth said!
