City Council hearing
set on annexation
|
September 7, 2011 |
The Bonners Ferry City Council will hold public
hearing at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, September 29, at
the Bonners Ferry Visitors Center to accept
public comment on a proposal to annex about 77
parcels into city limits.
All 77 affected parcels are adjacent to current
city limits and within the city/county area of
impact. Two are on the South Hill, one at the
end of Buffalo Street and the other a city-owned
parcel next to the city maintenance yard. The
other 75 parcels are south of city limits.
The city already provides water, sewer and
electrical service to all those parcels, and
would add police, fire and street maintenance
services if those parcels are brought into the
city. Electrical fees for those brought in would
decrease, as residents outside city limits cost
more than those within city limits. If brought
in, the city would also provide garbage pickup
at a cost of $8.50 per month.
The lands being proposed for annexation are
outlined in red in the images below, with the
coloring of those lots colored to show the
proposed zoning if the bid to annex the parcels
is successful. Futher information, to include an
analysis of the tax ramifications, is available
on the city website,
http://bonnersferryid.gov.
