Fall is here and the leaves
are beginning to turn, but the summer sun has
stuck around and made for some beautiful flying
days. The cool fall air makes for smooth
flights, so convince your pilot friends to take
you on a flight, or come up to Northern Air for
a flight seeing tour of the mountains in
October.

Northern Air is proud to announce Dominic Bovey
of Sandpoint as the newest pilot to take off
from Boundary
County Airport.
After spending nine months
working with a missionary pilot in Guayana,
South America, Bovey took an
introductory flight of his own and he was
hooked.
Bovey began flying at
Northern Air in July with instructor Nathaniel
Cheshire. On one hot August day,
Cheshire
and Bovey were practicing soft field landings at
Cavanaugh
Bay landing strip on
Priest
Lake, when
Cheshire
said, “Man, it’s so hot, we should jump in the
lake!”
Bovey quickly executed a
short field approach and landing, parked the
airplane, and the two of them ran to the end of
the runway and dived into the lake!
Bovey’s cool head helped
him passed his private pilot exam on September
29 with FAA examiner Jay Bigley. His plans are
to earn his instrument pilot rating and
eventually become a missionary pilot himself.

After three years of hard work, Larry Engert
emerged from his hangar with his beautiful
custom-built Sonex Waiex (pronounced “Y-X”)
airplane and took his maiden flight on September
23. This Sonex Waiex sport plane, with its
6-cylinder, 120 hp Jabiru engine, and average
cruise speed of 150 miles per hour, is going to
be Engert’s "cruiser for going places."
In addition to this newest
plane Engert has two other planes, a Mini-Max
and a Rans S4, both of which are hangared at the
Boundary County
Airport.
With the end of summer
comes the end of Huckleberry Pancake Breakfasts.
There was a record turnout for the final
Huckleberry Pancake Breakfast of the season on
September 24, and EAA Chapter 757 would like to
thank all of those who participated and
volunteered to make this event and the previous
ones such a success. Please check out the new
