Highway 2 accident
claims the life of Roy Kelso

Updated 4:45 a.m. November 8: A
single vehicle accident initially reported at
9:28 p.m. Monday claimed the life of Roy Dale
Kelso, 56, Moyie Springs, apparently the first
victim of winter driving conditions in Boundary
County this year.
According to the Idaho
State Police, Kelso was westbound on Highway 2
in a 1994 Chevrolet pickup when he crossed the
center line and drove across the eastbound lane,
where he struck a guardrail, went down an
embankment and overturned, striking several tree
before coming to a rest on its top.

7: A deputy has just arrived on the scene of a
reported injury single vehicle accident and has
advised dispatch that the highway is shut down
at this time, with no estimate as yet when the
highway will reopen. Idaho State Police troopers
are being summoned to conduct the investigation.
While the driver has not been identified, the
plate on the plate on the vehicle is local.
According to reports, roadways throughout
Boundary County are icing up and snow is falling
in some areas, making driving conditions
treacherous. 10 p.m.: A deputy
on scene has confirmed that this accident has
claimed the life of the driver, the only
occupant in the vehicle. 10:40 p.m.
Crews at the scene of the accident have
re-opened one lane of Highway 2 and are
alternating east and west bound traffic. An
Idaho State Police trooper is en route from
Coeur d'Alene, and it is expected to be several
hours before the roadway is completely reopened.
