Man dies in jump from Moyie Bridge |
February 8, 2012 |
A
Coeur d'Alene man with ties to Boundary County
plunged to his death in a jump off the Moyie
River Bridge early this morning on Highway 2.
According the sheriff's office, the body of
Derrick Meister, 21, was recovered from the bank
of the Moyie River late this morning after he
made an apparently deliberate leap from the
bridge just after 1 a.m.
"The motive for the suicide is still unknown and
is currently under investigation," the sheriff's
office said in a release. "No further
information is available at this time."
Meister, formerly of Bonners Ferry, has family
in Moyie Springs.
Last May, News Bonners Ferry ran a photo of
Meister and nine other North Idaho College
students, who donated their spring break working
with Habitat For Humanity in Skagit County,
Washington. The image above was taken from that
photo.
Our heartfelt condolences go out to the family
and friends he left behind. |
