Capurso announces bid for Idaho House |
February 9, 2012 |
Boundary
County resident Donna Capurso, Moyie Springs,
today formally
announced her candidacy on the Republican ticket
for the Idaho House of Representatives,
Legislative District 1 – Seat A.
Legislative District 1 is composed of all of
Boundary County and the majority of Bonner
County. This position is currently held by Eric
Anderson of Priest Lake.
Capurso’s experience as Chairman of the Boundary
County Republican Central Committee has given
her the opportunity to serve her community by
being involved in issues that affect those that
live in both Boundary and Bonner Counties.
“I am one of ‘We the People,’ and if I can help
those who need my assistance in my community, I
will not hesitate to do so.”
Capurso does more than talk the talk – she walks
the walk. An example of her involvement occurred
when she assisted Jeremy Hill and his family
when the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service and US
Attorney Wendy Olson attempted to prosecute Mr.
Hill for killing a grizzly bear last Mother’s
Day while protecting four of his six children at
his home north of Bonners Ferry.
She went to bat for Jeremy and wrote an article
on his family’s experience with the grizzlies
and the consequences he was facing of a year in
prison and a $50,000 fine for protecting his
family.
Because of her involvement, as well as many
other Idahoans, the federal government backed
off.
Capurso is presently involved in informing the
public on the USFWS’s plan for making 375,562
acres a Caribou Critical Habitat as well as the
U.S. Forest Service’s management plan for
thousands of acres earmarked for wilderness
designations, closing off even more of the
public lands in north Idaho.
Capurso says she is not afraid to stand up for
what is right and intends to persevere in
helping the citizens of north Idaho stop this
assault by the federal government on both
counties. She believes that our legislators need
to be in tune to the issues that affect their
constituents and be willing to take a stand, and
not just when it is politically self-serving for
them to do so.
Capurso, a mother and grandmother, believes that
Idaho can lead the way in restoring the proper
role of government, adhering to free market
principles to solve many of Idaho’s economic
challenges, reaffirming the values that
America’s founding fathers instituted for “We
the People” through the US Constitution, and
making our freedom, liberty and quests for
personal responsibility goals to diligently
strive for.
Donna Capurso is the owner/broker of Selkirk
Mountain Real Estate in Moyie Springs. She and
her husband, Terry, have lived in North Idaho
for the last 16 years. Donna has volunteered
countless hours to organizations like the
Festival at Sandpoint, Lost in the 50s, Festival
of Trees, and many others.
She also serves on the Idaho Real Estate
Commission Education Council in Boise. As a
volunteer for the past 5 ½ years, she has
strived to raise the bar of excellence to
provide education to real estate licensees that
protects and serves the best interests of the
public.
Capurso describes her campaign for the Idaho
legislature as one based on the principles
America was founded on, and wants to do her part
in getting back to its Constitutional foundation
and values that made our country great.
She feels that this can best be done at the
state level.
“If the citizens of Boundary and Bonner Counties
want me to be their voice in Idaho’s House of
Representatives, then I hope they will get out
and vote for me at the Primary on May 15,”
Capurso says. “One thing people can count on
from me is my promise of never changing my core
values in order to garner votes. I will always
be pro-life, pro-God, and pro- Second Amendment
rights. It would be my humble privilege to serve
the people of north Idaho as their
Representative.”
