Bonners Ferry welcomes new police chief
|
April 21, 2012 |
The City of Bonners Ferry earlier this month
welcomed a new chief of police to town, Steve
Benkula, a 27-year law enforcement veteran from
Twin Falls, Idaho.
He replaces former chief Rick Alonzo, who
retired December 31, 2011, following his
election to the Bonners Ferry City Council.
He and his wife, Carole, moved to Bonners Ferry
with their two adopted sons, ages two and three,
and since his arrival, he's been busy getting to
know his officers and staff and meeting the
business owners and people of the community.
Benkula said he's not planning any drastic
changes within the department, but said he plans
to continue the long-standing tradition of
service to the community and its safety.
He said he's impressed by the dedication of all
those whom he's met thus far in Boundary
County's law enforcement community, and that
he's looking forward to continuing to foster
that dedication to serving the citizens of
Bonners Ferry. |
