FFA and FFA Alumni Ag Festival coming |
July 19, 2012 |
From
breakfast to well after dark, the Boundary
County Fairgrounds will belong to local Future
Farmers of America and alumni as they celebrate
their Agriculture Festival on Saturday, July 28,
but you don't have to be affiliated with the FFA
to enjoy, this family-friendly event is open to
everyone! The day's events are being sponsored by the Bonners Ferry FFA Chapter, and it all begins with a hearty ranch breakfast from 7 to 10 a.m. in the fairgrounds dining hall for just $5. Demonstrations begin at 8 a.m. in the sheep barn, where sheep shearing takes place; and at 10 a.m. there'll be a sheep dog demonstration in the warm up arena. The milking demonstrations kick off at 11 a.m. with cows, and goats at 1:30 p.m. Please keep in mind that times are subject to change if the animals happen to want to. For the more sports-minded, they'll be playing baseball at 10:30 a.m. At 2:30 p.m., the Summer Youth Theater cast of "The Wizard of Oz" will present a full costume sneak peek at the exciting play, and at 6 p.m. the cast of "Cats" will do the same. There will be much more going on than is reported here; concessions, demonstrations, vendors booths, time to catch up with old friends and more. Once evening falls, the FFA Alumni will take over the events, which include a barbecue from 5 to 7:30 p.m., a beer garden put on by the Kootenai River Brewing Company from 1 to 10 p.m., and a good ol' country hoedown to the music of the Monarch Mountain Band from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Passes for meals and the dance can be had for $15 per person or $40 or a family of four, and each pass sold comes with a raffle ticket, which are available for $4 each or six for $20. Thanks go out to Les Schwab Tire, Big R, Boundary Tractor, Pape Machinery and Country K102 for sponsoring the event, and thanks also goes out to Akins Harvest Foods and Super 1 for their food donations. More information on all that's going on will be broadcast on K102, and you can call Garvin, (208) 290-6844, Gary, (208) 255-9018, or Paul, (208) 290-1496 if you're needing specific details. |
