Lumberjack
legend Carson Bosworth, now living in Lake
Geneva, Wisconsin, will be in Bonners Ferry to
visit family, attend the fair and demonstrate
the awesome skills that make him one of the
world's top competitors in logging sports today.
Bosworth, the son of Bob and Jill Bosworth,
Bonners Ferry, will take part in logging
exhibitions each day of the fair, sponsored by
Idaho Forest Group. Demonstrations will be held
at 11:30 a.m., 3 and 5 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday
and Friday and 3 and 5 p.m. on Saturday in the
outdoor arena.
Carson grew up in Bonners Ferry and learned
logging and logging sports from his father,
himself one of the most respected foresters in
the nation. He began competing in timber sports
at age 8, the beginning of a career that would
take him around the world.
For the past four years, he's been a member of
the U.S. National Axman's team that has competed
at the Royal Sydney Easter Show in Sydney,
Australia. He's qualified for the ESPN Stihl
Timbersports series each year since 1990 save
one. He's performed in front of at least two
prime ministers and has put on demonstrations or
competed in all 50 states.
In his career, he's attained 55 world titles,
seven of them with his wife, Tina, and over 100
all-around titles.
In addition to competing, Carson works as a
substitute teacher at Lake Geneva Badger
High School and markets his own line of timber
sports gear,
