Nature Conservancy buys Hall Creek Forest

The Nature Conservancy last week acquired the
317-acre Hall Creek Forest at the base of Hall
Mountain in northern Boundary County. The
property provides excellent habitat for wildlife
such as moose, elk and deer, as well as black
bears and grizzly bears.
As part of the Conservancy’s commitment to keep
private timberlands working, the Conservancy’s
long-term vision is to conduct restoration
projects on Hall Creek Forest, place a
conservation easement on the property and then
seek a private conservation buyer for the
property. The property will continue to be
managed for sustainable timber harvest.
Located adjacent to public land, the acquisition
of Hall Creek Forest complements previous and
ongoing work to conserve areas promoting
wildlife movement. The property has an abundance
of large ponderosa pine, Douglas fir, hardwoods,
and includes an extensive forested wetland.

is a win-win situation for people and wildlife.
The Hall Creek Forest will continue to provide
logs to the mills and jobs to the local economy
while protecting the wildlife Idahoans hold
dear.”
