First half property taxes due by December 20
|
December 14, 2012 |
Boundary County Treasurer Jenny Fessler would
like to remind all Boundary County taxpayers
that the deadline for paying the first half of
this year’s taxes without penalty is Thursday,
December 20.
Tax notices were sent in November and may be
paid in two installments; the first half by
December 20 and the remainder by June 20, 2013.
Any portion of the assessed tax may be paid at
any time, but if there is a remaining balance on
the first half after December 20, a two-percent
late charge is immediately applied. After
January 1, interest of one percent per month is
added.
Tax payments can be mailed to the Treasurer’s
Office at PO Box 218, and we are located in the
Boundary County Courthouse at 6452 Kootenai
Street, in downtown Bonners Ferry. Office hours
are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Payments that are mailed to the Treasurer’s
Office must be postmarked by December 20, 2012
to avoid penalty.
MasterCard, Discover and Visa cards are now
accepted in our office. If the office is closed,
you may pay by telephone with a credit card
through Official Payments Corporation. Their
phone number is 1-877-203-6083.
You will be asked to enter your bill number, a
daytime phone number, year of tax bill you are
paying, amount you are paying, and your credit
card information. There is a “Convenience Fee”
for these services.
