Gearing up for spelling bees

Students in 54 schools in 11 North Idaho
districts, including home-schoolers, are gearing
up to compete in spelling bees this month to
qualify them for the North Idaho Spelling Bee
taking place Marc 23 at North Idaho College.
Winners there will receive an all-expense paid
trip to the Scripps National Spelling Bee in
Washington, D.C. in June, sponsored by Hagadone
Newspapers.
Home schooled students will face off at 9 a.m.
Saturday, January 12, at Grace Bible Church, 152
West Prairie, Coeur d'Alene.
Four bees will be held for Boundary County
School District 101 students, beginning with the
sixth grade bee at noon Wednesday, January 16,
at the middle school. On January 17, seventh
graders will face off at 11:50 a.m., followed by
the eighth graders at 12:25 p.m., both bees also
at the Boundary County Middle School, 6577 Main
Street, Bonners Ferry.
At 9 a.m. Saturday, January 26, county fourth
and fifth graders will face off at Free
Methodist Church, 6957 LaBrosse Hill Road,
Bonners Ferry.
