Student admits to bomb threat
|
January 17, 2012 |
A student has confessed to perpetrating the bomb
scare that forced evacuation of the Bonners
Ferry Middle School on Tuesday, and a special
school board meeting is being set up, possibly
next week, to decide on disciplinary measures to
be taken by the school.
It has been verified by district superintendent
Dick Conley that the student, a sixth grade
girl, has been expelled pending the special
board meeting.
In addition to whatever punishment the school
district metes out, she also faces whatever
criminal charges may be brought by the state.
The Bonners Ferry Police Department is
conducting that investigation, and it will be up
to the city prosecutor on what charges, if any,
to file.
Because no criminal charges have been brought,
the name of the alleged perpetrator and details
of the investigation are not being released,
including whether the student was involved in
similar hoaxes earlier in the year.
