The Bonners Ferry Rotary Club, Valley View PTO,
Idaho Reads! VISTA, Debbie Pauls and the EWU Get
Lit! Program made it possible for children's
author Carol Muzik to
visit Valley View Elementary February 26.
Author and illustrator of the book, Raising
Lucy, The True Story of Raising an Orphaned Wild
Goose, Carol Muzik came to VV and presented
three enlightening writing workshops to the
fourth and fifth graders.
She gave high quality educational instruction as
students worked through the process of writing
their own stories. All students had the
opportunity to purchase her book, meet her and
have their book signed.
Carol and her husband Nick raised an orphaned
Canada gosling to its successful return to the
wild. Carol documented their experience through
photography, video and her original
illustrations.
She is sharing her story, Lucy’s story, through
her award-winning short film and children’s
illustrated storybook. You can visit her website
www.RaisingLucy.com for more information.
Principal Pflueger and the staff at Valley View
are devoted to providing reading and writing
opportunities to the students.
Thanks to financial support of our community and
all those that volunteer their time, we are
making a difference in the lives of our
children. Anyone interested in devoting time to
reading with or mentoring students, please
contact Valley View at (208) 267-5519. |
