Children's author coming to Valley View

April 25, 2013 |
Deby
Fredericks, a Spokane school crossing guard and
substitute secretary by day, writes for children
as Lucy D. Ford, and she has been a writer all
her life. She viewed it as just a fun hobby
until the late 1990s. She'll be visiting Valley
View Elementary on Wednesday, May 1.
“Lucy” has had short stories and poetry
published in magazines such as Boys’ Life,
Babybug, Ladybug, and Spider.
At Valley View, she will be presenting writer's
workshops to kindergartners through second
grades.
She will also have two assemblies, one for
kindergarten through second grades at 10:30
a.m., and the other at 2:45 p.m. for third
through fifth grades in the Valley View Gym.
Parents, grandparent and the community are
welcome to join in on the assemblies.
Deby's visit is sponsored by Eastern Washington
University’s "Get Lit" program and made possible
by funding from the Bonners Ferry Lion’s Club.
Idaho Reads! VISTA program and Valley View
Elementary are committed to improve literacy
through volunteerism and community support.
Thanks to the Boundary County community, we are
making a difference in our children’s lives.
