A change in the weather is developing, prompting the
National Weather Service to issue a special weather statement
calling for high winds to develop late this week, with the
highest expected in the Mat-Su.
According to the National Weather Service, high pressure is
expected to build over north Alaska and the Bering Sea, which
will allow the jet stream to dive south over southern Alaska
well into next week.
This will result, they say, in strong northerly winds in the
Mat-Su and in areas along Cook Inlet.
Blowing dust and silt may become problems, and the strong winds
could increase concern over wildfire.
While forecasters are confident that high winds are coming, they
have not as yet been able to predict just how high those winds
will be. |
