Classical Conversations group meets

February 6, 2014 |
Classical Conversations is a tuition-based
homeschool group that meets on Fridays. The
Foundation's classes (K-6) are led by trained
tutors who facilitate science experiments, art
projects and review games.
They expose children to drawing techniques,
great artists and composers, and music theory
using the tin whistle. Every child is required
to do a weekly presentation using skills that
are taught in class.
Since they follow the classical model of
education, there is a plethora of memory work,
including Bible, English grammar, history
sentences and a timeline, math, science, Latin,
and geography.
Our afternoon Essentials class (grades 4-6) is
run by a fabulous, trained tutor who uses the
Institute for Excellence in Writing to teach
writing techniques, Essentials of the English
Language to teach proper grammar and many fun
games to drill math facts.
This is a great class if either your child loves
all of these subjects and is doing great, or if
you as a parent are intimidated by writing and
need guidance.
They are also getting excited to start Classical
Conversations' Challenge program. This will be a
very intensive 30-week program for junior and
senior high students.
Please join them at 4 p.m. Tuesday, February 11,
at Mountain Springs Church to learn more about
what they do in Classical Conversations. You are
also welcome to visit us on any community day.
