Local man expected to get nod as new police chief |

After a nation-wide search to name a new Bonners
Ferry Chief of Police, Mayor Dave Anderson is
expected to once more request approval of
someone right in our own back yard when the city
council meets on Tuesday. According to acting Police Chief David Kramer, who accepted a four-month appointment to return as acting chief after Steve Benkula resigned in November, county resident Bob Boone, who is currently a member of local law enforcement's Chaplains Corps, will be a good choice to lead the department. "He has an extensive law enforcement background, he's humble and he is active in our community," Kramer said. "I think he'll be a good fit for the city." Boone served for many years with the San Bernardino County, California, Sheriff's Office and as a criminal investigator for a county prosecutor's office before moving to Boundary County. If the city council approves the mayor's nomination Tuesday, Boone will be presented a formal offer from the city. |
