March 9, 2014 |
A joint investigation with the Bonners Ferry
Police Department, the Boundary County Sheriff's
Office and the Idaho State Police is underway
after an early morning explosion heard by many
on the Northside in Bonners Ferry. According to new Bonners Ferry Police Chief Bob Boone, the explosion was reported to dispatchers at 1:05 a.m. today, and officers arrived at the home in the 7300 block of Apache Street within moments, where they found two males injured. Both were transported to Boundary Community Hospital, where they were treated and released. Their names have not been released. Assistant Bonners Ferry Police Chief Foster Mayo was first on scene, and he secured the scene and called in additional assistance. Investigators believe the explosion to have been caused by a device that was planted at the home, possibly a pipe bomb. Anyone who saw suspicious activity in the area, located just south of Boundary Community Hospital, or who may have information pertinent to the investigation, are asked to call the Bonners Ferry Police Department, (208) 267-2412, or the Boundary County Sheriff's Office, (208) 267-3151, extension 0. Callers can, at their discretion, remain anonymous. Update: In a press release issued late this afternoon, officials say the device was a pipe bomb placed at the front door of the Apache Street home. Two male residents, the release said, opened the door, saw the bomb and slammed the door as the device exploded, wounding both. Allen Avery, 19, Bonners Ferry, was arrested on numerous charges for the crime this afternoon. |
