Mace's rendition of Diamond |
There has never been a missing pet tale quite
like this one, which is all the more reason to
keep your eyes open that a beloved animal might
go home. This is about Diamond, a tom cat
missing since late February. How he came to be
that way you'll understand if you've ever loved
a cat.
Judy Mace was driving and Diamond a passenger on
February 26, coming up Peterson Hill. Diamond
was looking out the passenger window, enjoying
the scenery as usual, but this time, when Judy
stopped for a moment to run an errand,
Diamond happened to put his paw on the power
window button, along with his weight, and held
it long enough to roll the window all the way
down.
When Judy got back; the window was down and
Diamond was gone.
Judy hollered and called, tried to track him in
mud that held no tracks.
Over the next several days, she kept up the
search, tacked up and handed out numerous flyers
in the area and in town, all with no result.
Judy, an artist, had no photos of Diamond, but
she knew him so well and loves him so much she
drew a sketch in hopes of finding her beloved
pet.
Diamond, around eight or nine years old now, was
not too far past the kitten stage when he was
abandoned on Deep Creek Loop near her parents,
Lew and Jean Mace's, home. Judy adopted him soon
after, and the two became inseparable.
It is hoped that Diamond found someplace warm an
dry, that in his shock his feline instincts for
survival kicked in, and that someone may have
seen a glimpse of him; a black cat with four
white boots, darting into a barn, under a house,
maybe into a woodshed.
Judy does not have internet, but in spite of the
time that has passed, her sister, Ginger
Collins, suggested she turn to the readers of
newsbf.com, readers of growing acclaim when it
comes to reuniting pets and people.
