Commissioners proclaim May as Mental Health Month in Boundary County |
May 12, 2014 |
We all know about the importance of taking care
of our health, for example, eating right,
getting enough sleep, and exercising. Healthy
habits positively influence how a person feels
and how their body functions. But good health involves not only caring for our body, but also our mind. This May is Mental Health Month. NAMI Far North, the Bonner and Boundary County affiliate to the National Alliance on Mental Illness, is raising awareness of the role mental health plays in our lives, and providing tips and resources so anyone can take steps to promote good mental health. Our local county commissioners have proclaimed the month of May as Mental Health Month in Boundary County. Just as Americans have learned there are things they can do to reduce their risk of heart disease and other illnesses, NAMI Far North wants to help people learn what they can do both to protect their mental health in tough times, and also to improve their mental well-being throughout their lives. NAMI Far North meets the third Wednesday of each month in Sandpoint at the Bonner General Hospital Classroom from 6:00-8:30 p.m. Learn more at www.nami.org/sites/namifarnorth or call 208-597-2047 |
