Human Rights Task Force announces winners of
essay contest |

The Boundary County Human Rights Task Force has
announced the winners of the Martin Luther King
Day essay contest. The contest had three levels
of competition: elementary, middle school and
high school, with the elementary writing on
“Where Do Human Rights Begin” and the secondary
schools writing on “Civil Rights, Human Rights
and Education." The Task Force and the judges
were pleased with the number and quality of the
entries.
Winners at the elementary level: first place,
Taylor Cromwell; second place, Elisa Balcaen;
third place, Corine Spain; honorable mention,
Jacob Bremer.
At the middle school level, the winners are:
First place, Sierra Marie Summerfield; second
place, Paxton Tadlock; third, Caleb Peterson;
honorable mention, Chrisopher Durette and Molly
Anne Flower.
Winners at the high school level are: first,
Savannah Woods; second, Kim Kramer; and third,
Tanner Liermann; honorable mention, Emily
Warden, Louis Balcaen, Kim Kramer, Ameriah
Macey, and Collin Stone.
According to the Task Force, in preparing for
their writing, the students gained insight and
knowledge into the rights for all people that
are written in the Universal Declaration of
Human Rights and that can be applied in their
own lives. |
