August 4 Parker Ridge fire update |
August 4, 2015 |
The Parker Ridge Fire in northwest Boundary
County is now at 84 acres, with containment at
0%. Fire officials report the activity of the
fire continues to be moderate with minimal fire
growth. Because of the many standing dead trees in the area, efforts have been made to scout the fire from aircraft to minimize risk posed to firefighters by falling trees, and to help in strategic planning. It has been hoped that the aircraft could help identify safe approaches and possible areas of operations to control the fire. Use of these air resources has been limited by the thick smoke in the area. Lands officials point out that the smoke accumulation in our area is largely from heavy wildfire activity in Northern California, Washington, and Canada. The management team is also looking at developing a plan for structure protection in the area. The Parker Ridge Fire is currently under management by the Arizona Type 3 Central West Zone Incident Management Team. |
