All remains steady on Parker Ridge Fire |
August 17, 2015 |
Fire officials have reduced their estimate of
the overall size of the Parker Ridge Fire to
6,139 acres as of Sunday morning, August 16.
This change is felt to be more accurate due to
better GPS mapping data gathered by helicopter. The 94 crew members assigned to the fire are using heavy equipment and constructing new fire lines. "Collective resources from private, state, county and federal agencies (U.S. Forest Service and the Bureau of Land Management) are coordinating efforts on this fire," said Kary Maddox, Parker Ridge Fire Information Officer. In addition to ground personnel, one heavy helicopter and one light helicopter are working on this fire. Although the evacuation notice for Porthill and the Farm to Market area has been lifted, evacuation orders for the West Side Road remain in effect. |
