Burn permits not being issued |
September 23, 2015 |
Burn permits are not being issued in Boundary
County at this time, according to information
from the Idaho Department of Lands, with the
exception of specific agricultural burns.
Despite cool weather, shorter days, and rain in
late August, forest fuels remain unusually dry
and the fire danger remains high. Once
considerable precipitation is received, fire
managers will again issue burn permits. Please
remember that burn permits are required for all
open burning from May 10th to October 20 of each
year.
Camp fires are permissible; however, adequate
precautions should be taken to ensure fires do
not escape control, and to make sure all fires
are drowned, stirred and cold to the touch
before leaving them unattended. If a person is
negligent and causes a forest fire, he/she may
be liable to pay the cost of fire suppression.
