Doing business with the government? Workshops provide pointers and advice

Learn basic guidelines for doing business with the government at free workshops in Sandpoint and Post Falls October 20-21. The workshops are detailed below.

Tuesday, October 20, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Idaho Department of Labor, 613 Ridley Village Road, Sandpoint.

Wednesday, October 21, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at North Idaho College, 525 West Clearwater Loop, Post Falls.

These half-day workshops will provide participants with an overview on bidding with the Idaho Transportation Department, requirements for bidding as a federal contractor, and available resources and services, such as free bid-matching and help responding to Requests for Proposals from the Idaho Procurement Technical Assistance Center. The program will feature presenters from the Idaho Transportation Department, Idaho Procurement Technical Assistance Center, the U.S. Small Business Administration and a federal procurement officer.

Participants will learn how to find government projects that are out for bid, required licenses and registrations, and the differences between state and federal contracting.

Other topics will include the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Disadvantaged Business Enterprise program, 8(a) Business Development, HUBZone, Women-Owned Small Business, and other business certifications, and where to go for free assistance.
