Mr. Hogg came to Valley View Elementary on Monday, October 12 and worked with close to 400 students in assemblies and workshops. All of the students had the opportunity to purchase his books, meet him, and have their books signed.
The children at the assemblies giggled and applauded as Hogg transformed into a well-padded hairdresser named Beulah who, with her blue beehive hairdo, helped a ‘pig’ win first place at the county fair.
Hogg ended the day with workshops for third, fourth and fifth grade students. He emphasized detail, detail, and more detail, along with choosing a topic that is meaningful to the writer. He ended his time by having the students repeat, “I am an author! Ta! Da!”
