Boundary County School District 101 has selected
Kevin Dinning to serve as the new principal of
Bonners Ferry High School.
Mr. Dinning, originally from Bonners Ferry and a
long-time area resident, was selected from a
group of finalists for the position that was
described as "strong," making the decision
difficult, according to school district
administration.
Tim Gering, who has served as principal at the
high school for the past three years, had
tendered his resignation from the position a
couple of months ago. He decided to move closer
to family in the Lewiston area.
"I would like to first take a moment to thank
Mr. Tim Gering for his work at BFHS over the
last three years. Once a Badger, always a Badger,
Tim!" said School Board Chairman David Brinkman.
"Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your
work with our students and care for our
community."
Mr. Gering's resignation started the School
District's search for a new high school
principal. The process was rigorous, as the
school district "looked far and wide" for the
right person, according to Mr. Brinkman.
Candidates for the position had to go through an
intense selection process, which eventually
narrowed the final group down to four
candidates.
"All four candidates were strong and the
interview team had a tough decision to make when
the day was done," said Mr. Brinkman.
The final four candidates were interviewed last
Friday by two different school district
committees. "The morning committee was one
consisting of staff from the building, and
represented a cross section of departments. The
afternoon committee consisted of [district]
administration members as well as a few parents
and community members.
The result of the search, reviewing
applications, interviews, discussion at
administrative levels at the school district,
and lots of pondering, was the selection of Mr.
Dinning to serve as the new BFHS principal. Mr.
Dinning will begin at the high school for the
upcoming 2016 - 2017 school year. |
