January 4, 2017 |
A celebration of art, music and film to
commemorate Martin Luther King and his message
of equality, respect, hope and nonviolence for
all citizens will be held at The Pearl Theater
at 4 p.m. Saturday, January 14.
The program, “Martin Luther King, Jr. &
Nonviolence,” honors Martin Luther King and his
vision that “Injustice anywhere is a threat to
justice everywhere” will include a slide show by
Timothy Braatz, author and university professor
of history and nonviolence.
There will also be a showing of the film “Mighty
Times: The Children’s March,” a display of art
projects by Boundary County Middle School
students and music.
Admission is free and everyone is welcome.
The event is sponsored by the Boundary County
Human Rights Task Force that was established in
1985 with a mission to increase awareness in our
community of human rights according to Idaho law
on malicious harassment.
The Task Force also offers support and aid to
those who may be victims of discrimination or
harassment because of race, color, ancestry,
religion or national origin. Understanding that
it is the right of every person to be secure and
protected from fear, intimidation, harassment
and physical harm caused by the activities of
groups and individuals is the basis of the
programs and activities of the Task Force. |
