MacDonald introduces Rotary to IDCIS |
January 12, 2017 |
On Tuesday, Summer MacDonald, Idaho Department
of Labor Bonners Ferry, spoke to the Bonners
Ferry Rotary Club about the Idaho Career
Information System, the Educate Idaho Network
and the North Idaho Education Partnership.
The IDCIS is an occupational database system
linking education and businesses, allowing kids
the opportunity to research occupations,
determine what sort of education they need for
the career they hope to pursue as well as
programs, scholarship, internships and more that
can help them achieve their goals.
Initially funded by a College Access Grant, the
Educate Idaho Network builds regional
partnerships among community leaders to
accomplish the goal of having 60-percent of
Idahoans ages 25-34 holding some type of degree
or certificate.
The local cohort, calling itself the North Idaho
Education Partnership (NIEP), is focused on
strengthening the link between education and
business for middle and high-school students.
The North Idaho Education Partnership is a
partnership between many organizations, such as
United Way, Idaho Department of Labor and the
school districts, to name a few.
They are working to get individuals in business
around the community to partner with them to
help build a network of resources and people
willing to mentor local kids, introduce them to
their professions and be available to connect
with the kids in the event they are exploring a
career.
Those interested can learn more and volunteer to
participate in strengthening the link between
education and business can do both online by

The Bonners Ferry Rotary extends thanks to
Summer for a great and informative presentation! |
