Badger eighth graders show off courtroom prowess |

A group of Boundary County Middle School eighth
graders and their chaperones boarded a bus early
this morning and traveled to the courthouse in
Spokane, where they took part in a region-wide
mock trial competition.
When it was through, the Bonners Ferry students
brought home awards for best witness and best
attorney, with both sides winning their cases.
Team coach Kelly Hinthorn sends out huge thank
yous to Ron Sukenik and Dennis Weed for
mentoring and coaching this group, and to her
husband, Travis Hinthorn for coaching her
basketball team today.
Alisa Hannaman to the award for best attorney,
and Ally Martin won for best witness. Also
participating in the competition were Lily
Blackmore, Kira Carla-Hull, Jacob Clark, Hannah
Facha, Aleah Jones, Chance Madden, Emmet Melior,
Shayla Poppino, Morgan Swanson, Jasper Tompkins,
Madicyn Weddington, Kerrie Whitener and Zane
Carver.
"You should all be very proud of these kids,"
Kelly said. "Both sides won their cases, and we
took home the award for best witness and
attorney. The day way an amazing learning
experience for all of us ... It's a good day to
be a Badger!" |
