Boundary County Public Information
Due to recent Severe Winter Weather, Boundary
County declared a State of Emergency on February
6 to assist with the critical infrastructure
within the County only.
This declaration, however, does not cover
private property, driveways or private roads. It
also does not cover home roof snow removal or
any other private snow removal.
Please do not call the Courthouse for private
snow removal.
We are asking local churches, clubs and
associations to please assist the local
community as has always been the historic nature
of our community. Please call any of the groups
in our community that you know that may be able
to assist you. There are contacts on several
Facebook pages, including
NewsBF, and at
www.newsbf.com/snowmageddon.
Boundary County Emergency Management has
requested help from the Department of Emergency
Management for critical infrastructure snow
removal. The assistance will be the inmate crews
from the Orofino Prison, who generally fight
forest fires. The inmates will be under
supervision provided the State using USFS Fire
Cash Warehouse equipment including hand tools,
shovels, power equipment, clothing and bedding.
The inmate work crews will be housed in the
recently vacated National Guard Armory building
in Bonners Ferry and consist of two 12 man
teams. The inmate teams will be used for snow
removal on public buildings and critical
infrastructure within the county. This could
include schools, the Restorium, Senior Center,
etc.
Those buildings will be assigned snow removal
order based on roof load abilities and strength.
Again, please contact your local church or other
groups for help on your own personal snow
removal. To be included on the NewsBF lists,
call (208) 295-1016.
Boundary County Volunteers have a long and rich
history of assisting their neighbors and
friends. It is time for all those volunteers to
assist our community. |
