Victim Services support group starting back up |
February 14, 2017 |
Boundary County Victim Services has experienced
a short hiatus in their support group due to a
lack of participants. It is their hope that with
new word of mouth and sharing on social media
they can start it up again!
Support Group is an interactive group session
that may be non-directed, topic oriented or
informational and educational, facilitated by an
advocate from their program.
Support group services, which differ from
professional therapy group, provide support that
addresses the needs identified by those
attending the group session which includes, but
is not limited to:
a. Safety planning;
b. Active listening;
c. Problem solving;
d. Addressing needs identified by those attending the group session;
e. Information about available legal options; and
f. Information about available community resources.
Boundary County Victim Services will be
re-starting group meetings at noon Wednesday,
March 1, and continue the first Wednesday of
each month, depending on attendance.
Meetings are held at the Bonners Ferry United
Methodist Church, although there is no religious
affiliation in the organization. This is simply
a safe and accommodating meeting place
graciously offered to us through United
Methodist.
Free childcare is provided on site.
Your feedback is important, and although there
is no "perfect" schedule for anyone, the time
and dates set are what they are able to offer at
this time. Please contact (208) 267-5211 for
further information and to let them know you'll
be there. |
