Be prepared for spring road break-up |

Boundary County Road & Bridge
Once again it is the time of the year we need to
think about break up road closures. Trust me; it
is not my favorite part of this job.
Temperatures are warming up and hard surfaced
roads are soaking in the sunshine and a surface
thaw will begin. Cold nights will slow it down.
Truckers, please be proactive and start planning
for the closure of roads. We will try to give
good notice, however, we can't predict the
weather.
If the warming trend continues we will be
closing roads as needed, beginning posting after
February 21.
There is a 24 hour grace period after posting.
When the temperatures stays below 26 degrees
Fahrenheit for a period of six hours we will be
issuing permits on an individual basis for early
morning use. If the temperature stays below
freezing we will look into all day use.
The allowable gross of the permitted vehicle
will be based on 300 pounds per inch of tire
width. There is no charge for the permit.
If in doubt, or if you need to haul essential
supplies or materials on county roads, please
call Road & Bridge at (208) 267-3838 or email
rnelson@boundarycountyid.org with the road
in question.
Traveling with a load on a closed road is a
citable offence. |
