CNA scholarships are available for the spring
semester of the nursing assistant
certification program in Bonners Ferry through
North Idaho College and Boundary Community
Hospital, which starts March 28.
The scholarship includes employment at the
Boundary Community Hospital Extended Care
Facility.
Classes are held 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesdays
and Thursdays in Bonners Ferry at the Fry
Healthcare Education Center on Kaniksu Street
across from the main hospital building. In
affiliation with North Idaho College (NIC),
Boundary Community Hospital provides classes to
earn a State of Idaho certification as a
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) four times a
year. The course consists of 120 hours of
instruction: 80 hours in the classroom and 40
hours of clinical experience.
At the end of the 120 hours of training, the
student will take a certification examination at
the North Idaho Workforce Training Center in
Post Falls.
When certified, the nursing assistant can work
throughout the State of Idaho and within those
states that have a reciprocity agreement with
the Idaho.
CNA training can begin as early as age 16 with
no maximum age limit. A high school or college
diploma is not a prerequisite for either the
training or the certification. Graduates are
work-ready.
