Flash flood watch issued for tonight, Friday |
May 4, 2017 |
The National Weather Service in Spokane has
issued a flash flood watch for portions of North
Idaho and northeast Washington, including
Boundary County, in effect from late tonight
through Friday afternoon. Conditions are developing which will promote heavy rain producing thunderstorms tonight and Friday morning over the region. Recent burn scars will be particularly susceptible to flooding as these storms track through the area. Also the potential exists for mud slides and debris flows in steep terrain. A flash flood watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Residents in areas susceptible to flooding or in slide-prone areas are advised to take action to secure property from loss, and motorists are reminded not to drive into flood waters across roadways, but to turn around and find an alternate route. |
