Memorial Day waters high and cold |
May 23, 2017 |
With Memorial Day weekend looming this weekend
and all the people who will be setting out to
play after our very long and hard winter,
Boundary County Emergency Management would like
to remind everyone that our rivers and streams
are running very high, cold and strong.
* Be careful along all river banks, streams and anywhere there is running
water.
* All lakes are icy cold due to snow runoff making swimming difficult.
* Please have a buddy or friend along to help in case of accident.
* Wear a flotation device if you plan to go into the water.
* When hiking, watch your step alongside stream banks, the earth is soft.
* Let someone know where you will be and a timeline for your return.
* Have the appropriate gear for your adventure to ensure your safety.
* Be smart, and enjoy the long weekend.
If you have an emergency please call 911, and
when dispatch answers, state your name,
location, type of emergency and all details
needed to get you prompt and appropriate
assistance. |
