Comment period open on USFS burn project |

The Idaho Panhandle National Forests is inviting
the public to review and make comments on the
Snow Peak Prescribed Burn Project. District
Ranger Matt Davis is the responsible official
for this project and encourages public input to
help guide the project design.
The official 30-day public review and comment
starts today and is open until July 3, 2017.
The proposed project area is approximately
37,400 acres, of which 11,752 acres are State
lands administered by the Idaho Department of
Fish and Game. Approximately 17,260 acres have
been identified for potential treatment.
The Snow Peak project area is located about
seven miles west of Red Ives Cabin and 15 miles
southeast of Avery, Idaho, and encompasses the
entire Snow Peak Wildlife Management Area.
This project is intended to improve big game
habitat by regenerating and increasing palatable
shrub, grass, and forbs in the Snow Peak
Wildlife Management Area. Reducing natural fuels
and improving stand conditions will also benefit
the project area.
