Tons of scholarships awarded the BFHS Class of
'17 |

The list of 2017 Bonners Ferry High School
scholarship recipients has been released,
indicating once again how dedicated and
motivated are the Bonners Ferry Badgers who set
out to make their places in the world.
Winners of the $2,388 Monger Scholarship this
year were Thomas Smith, Tucker Dirks, Mitchell
Kramer, Daniel Perez, Karla Horton, Jennah
Smith, TJ Smith, Janzen Figueroa and Anthony
Shutes. $1,000 awards went to Abby Davis and
Alaina Rushing, and $500 awards went to Mathew
Merrifield and Keither Lecrenski.
Boundary County Artists Association scholarships
were granted to Madalynn Kelley,$250, and
Marisol Vazquez, $50;
the $300 Idaho School Board Association
scholarship went to Connor Krezman.
Idaho State University Scholarships four year,
$2,500 scholarships went to Christian Aguirre
Dowell, Gabrielle Blackmore, Cassandra Curtiss,
Nicholas Sabin and Jennah Smith.
The $500 Katherine Haynes Art Scholarship went
to Madalynn Kelley, the renewable $3,000 Idaho
Governor’s Cup Scholarship was awarded to Janson
Figueroa, $1,000 Rotary Scholarship were
presented to Abby Davis, Alaina Rushing,
Brittany Spangler, Dawson Brod, Evan Wasmer,
Grace Coughlin, Janson Figueroa, Kevin Gray,
Lauren Wages,
Mary Fioravanti and TJ Smith, and $500 Rotary
Scholarships went to
Louis Balcaen and Caleb Harrington.
University of Idaho Scholarships went to Kevin
Gray, $8,000, Connor Krezman and Evan Wasmer,
$6,000 each, Christian Dowell, Ethan Erickson,
Nick Sabin, Jennah Smith and Brittany Spangler,
$5,000 each, and Cassandra Curtiss, Connor
Neufeld, Daniel Robinson, and Matt Varelman,
$2,000 each.
Distinguished Young Women scholarships went to
Brittany Spangler, $2,200, Mary Fioravanti,
$1,600, Jill Alexander, $1,300, Alexandria
LeVesque, $700, Interview, $700, Brittany
Spangler, Scholastics, $850, Jill Alexander and
Alaina White, Self Expression, $700, Brittany
Spangler, Spirit of DYW, $700, Madalynn Kelley,
Talent, $700, Brittany Spangler, and Be Your
Best Self, $700, Cameron Haworth.
The $1,000Forget Me Not scholarship went to Evan
Wasmer, the $800 Betty Mills/Eastern Star
scholarship was awarded to Grace Coughlin, the
$500 Boundary County Education Association
scholarship went to Brittany Spangler.
$500 Rob Gust & CJ Erickson scholarships werwe
awarded to TJ Smith and Janson Figueroa. $1,000
Class of 1951 scholarships were awarded to Karla
Horton, Jada Miller, Cheyenne Andrews and Mason
Kelson, the $250 Gib & Dede Hall Scholarship
went to Alex Urbaniak and the All School Reunion
Scholarship of $1,000 went to Kevin Gray.
The Kootenai River Runb scholarship went to
Nicole Donn, $500 Class of 1970 scholarships
were awarded to Jada Miller, Janson Figueroa,
Grace Coughlin and Briana Clizer.
The $750 Stella Brochu award went to Brianna
Clizer and the $750 Beta Sigma Phi scholarship
was presented to Janson Figueroa.
Thomason Foundation Scholarshipsv went to Grace
Coughlin, $3,000, Evan Wasmer, $2,000 and Kaleb
Stockton, Mary Fioravanti, Mason Kelson and
Janson Figueroa, $1,500 each.
The $600 PEO scholarship went to Briana Clizer,
the $1,000 P1FCU scholarship to Mary Fioravanti,
and the $500BFHS National Honor Society
scholarship was presented to Grace Coughlin.
Gear Up $1,500 scolarships, with matches to the
school, were awarded to Karla Horton, Jennah
Smith, TJ Smith, Jarreka Byars, Mary Fioravanti,
Alaina White, Avery Lane, Kevin Gray, Summer
Norman, Nicole Donn, Rachel Young, Taylor
Strangio, Mason Kelson, Janson Figueroa, Daniel
Robinson, Isaac Lavala, Grace Coughlin, Benjamin
Horton, Katelyn Bennett, Nicholas Sabin, Ashley
McLeish, David Cossairt, Jesse Dunham, Matthew
Varelman, Ethan Erickson, Christian Dowell,
Caleb Harrington, Savannah Jordan, Olivia
Whittaker, Madalynn Kelley, Evan Wasmer,
Samantha Johnson, Keither Lecrenski, Brianna
Clizer and Marisol Vazquez.
The New York Film Academy presented Shelby Sporl
a $40,000 scholarship.
