The naturally-caused fire, in the vicinity of the upper reaches of Caribou Creek and Robinson Mountain, is estimated at 520 acres and burning in timber with active fire behavior and exhibiting torching and spotting.
A Type III Team led by Justin Erickson of the Three Rivers Ranger District is in command of the fire. The team will continue mop up work and patrol for hot spots.
The district will continue to coordinate with Canada, and use aircraft to drop fire retardant to improve existing lines on the north side of the fire. Closure orders are in effect and can be found at Forest Service offices as well as online at https://www.fs.usda.gov/kootenai.
