Forest Legacy gains over 5,000 acres |
November 26, 2017 |
The Idaho State Land Board unanimously approved
the purchase of conservation easements on eight
parcels of land in Boundary County under the
Forest Legacy program, allowing the properties
remain as working forest under private ownership
while guaranteeing public access for recreation
and stopping development that would convert the
land to nonforest uses.
The parcels, in the McArthur Lake and Hall
Mountain areas, comprise over 5,000 acres.
Boundary County Commissioners, the Bonners Ferry
City Council, the Kootenai Tribe of Idaho, the
Idaho Department of Fish and Game, several
lumber companies, Panhandle National Forests and
numerous other groups and organizations
submitted letters of support for these
proposals. |
