Brian Burgess, the son of Sandy and Jeff
Burgess, Bonners
Ferry, and a 2010 graduate of Bonners Ferry High
School, completed Army basic training in Fort
Jackson, South Carolina, earning the rank of
Army private.
He is now undergoing advanced individual
training in Virginia to specialize as a
helicopter mechanic, after which he'll attend
the three-week Army parachutist school in Fort
Benning, Georgia.
During basic training, Burgess earned high
honors in marksmanship and grenade throwing.
His father and grandfather, Bill Burgess, a
retired Navy veteran from Georgia, attended the
graduation ceremony.
"I'm proud to see him pursue his dreams of
defending the country," his dad said. |
