Lyle BCH Employee of the Year |
February 4, 2014 |
Charlene Lyle is Employee of the Year for 2013
at Boundary Community Hospital. Charlene has
been employed at BCH for five years. As a
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Charlene
works full time in Acute Care. In the letter of nomination, Charlene's nominator described Charlene as an excellent problem solver, critical thinker, volunteer for hospital events such as the Health Fair, and she loves what she does. The nominator noted that Charlene is quick to respond to the call lights and patient needs. She thinks of the little things in patient care such as watching her patients for skin issues. One long-term resident commented that Charlene is always pleasant and friendly; and that she does a good job always remembering to do what she tells you she is going to do. In addition to working full-time, Charlene is the mother of three teenagers. She is also furthering her education with the goal of becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). It is a three-step process to become employee of the year. First, a head of department, or an employee nominates an employee with a letter of recommendation. Next, the letter of recommendation is presented to the administrative staff, which includes the hospital's officers, heads of department, and committee chairs. The administrative staff selects one employee each month as "Employee of the Month." Employees of the Month receive a small honorarium, and for a month, a coveted parking spot next to the building. At the end of the year, all 185 employees vote and chose one of the twelve Employees of the Month for the honor of Employee of the Year. Besides the honor of the position, the employee receives a year-long ideal parking space along with an honorarium. Boundary Community Hospital CEO Craig A. Johnson says, "I am so proud of the employees, staff and physicians we have at our hospital. Charlene is a good example of how all employees go beyond the basic duty of the job to excel in patient care. Congratulations to Charlene." |
