IDFG quarterly meeting to be held here

The Idaho Fish and Game Commission is coming to
Bonners Ferry next week for their three-day
quarterly meeting, providing local residents the
opportunity to weigh in on issues of importance.
The meeting begins at 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 11,
at the Kootenai River Inn with new commissioner
orientation, followed by a discussion on legal
issues with Idaho Deputy Attorney General
Kathleen Trever.
There will be a review of the IDFG Strategic
Plan, a review of current fish and wildlife
issues, a discussion of their business plan and
a wildlife summit update.
At 7 p.m. the floor will be open in a public
hearing, during which interested members of the
public can discuss any topic related to the
department.

The commissioner's day will begin at 8 a.m.
Thursday at the Kootenai National Wildlife
Refuge, 287 Westside Road, with outgoing
commission chair Tony McDermott, Sagle, being
recognized for his contributions. Following
routine business, such as reading of past
minutes and a financial report, incoming
chairman Randy Budge, Pocatello, will conduct a
review of the public comments from Wednesday
evening.
Afterwards, a series of discussions will be
held; wildlife nonbiological rules, governor's
wildlife partnership tag rules, mentor hunt
rules, expenditure of animal damage control
funds, nonresident deer and elk tag quotas and
much more.

On Friday, commissioners will get out
and enjoy some of the wildlife our community has
to offer with a field trip on the Kootenai
