Badgers drop final two

The Badger baseball team finished the regular
season by being swept rival Priest River, 6-0
and 13-6 in Intermountain League play.
In the first game, senior Garrett Skeen saved
the Badgers from getting no hit by dropping a
single into short right field in the sixth
inning. The Badgers committed six errors and
struck out 11 times at the plate. The Spartans
only managed five hits to win the game 6-0.
In the second game, the Badgers did get 11 hits
in the game but gave up seven runs and committed
five errors in the first inning and could not
come back from the deficit, losing 13-6.
Skeen went three for four, including a double
and triple, and freshman Caleb Blackmore went
two for three. Senior Austin Hawks got his first
hit of the season and pitched 1 2/3 effective
innings. Hawks has been injured all year until
finally getting cleared last week.
Bonners Ferry finishing the regular season 10-10
overall and 4-5 in IML. They will be the number
three seed going into the District tournament
most likely playing Priest River. The game will
be at Timberlake High School on Friday, May 10,
at 3 p.m. |
